Your American Queen Voyage Just Got More Delicious

Six Rivers, Six Recipes to Highlight the Flavors of America

It’s no secret that many of the best memories are created over shared meals – passing second helpings down the table, laughing between mouthfuls of lovingly prepared specialties and lingering just a bit longer over dessert. Traveling is no exception, as it’s often the local flavors of a destination that leave a lasting impression long after you’ve returned home.

The latest announcement from the galleys of American Queen Voyages’ (AQV) elegant riverboats sees a delicious new lineup of recipes, created in partnership with America’s Test Kitchen and curated to tantalize your tastes for exploring America’s rivers. The new series, 6 Rivers, 6 Recipes, will showcase signature dishes that define the distinct cultures found along the rivers featured on AQV itineraries – and the complete recipes for you to create them at home.

Each recipe has been thoughtfully handpicked by AQV Culinary Ambassador Regina Charboneau and America’s Test Kitchen executive editorial director and co-host Bridget Lancaster. Together, they have culminated the best signature ingredients from all over the country into dishes that will connect you with the destinations, as well as anyone you invite to your table.

In the coming weeks, you’ll find the complete recipes here on the AQV blog so that you don’t miss one bite. Here’s a taste of what’s to come…

Louisiana-style cornbread dressing, complete with the Andouille and all the fixins’ of the lower Mississippi.

Caraway pork chops with bacon-mustard salad, inspired by the German settlers of the upper Mississippi.

Soy-glazed salmon with shitake mushrooms and Bok Choy, a tribute to the fresh salmon teeming in the Pacific Northwest’s Columbia and Snake rivers.

Rib-eye steak with bacon-bourbon compote and mashed potatoes, hearty and comforting, and reminiscent of visits to Louisville along the Ohio River.

Duck leg confit, chic and elegant in its preparation, yet unpretentious and universally delightful in flavor, just like the towns along the Cumberland and Tennessee rivers.

Fisherman’s pie, transporting your taste buds straight to Alaska’s wild Inside Passage, where seafood like Alaska cod and smoked salmon are the catch of the day.

We can’t wait to welcome you to our tables aboard your next AQV river cruise. Until then, look for these recipes on our blog and on your own table. Bon appetít!
