Unforgettable Moments From The Victory II Inaugural Voyage

victory II inaugural voyage

Part of Victory Cruise Line’s crew from the Miami office joined the inaugural voyage of our new M/V Victory II from Montreal to Detroit. We were onboard with travel agents, bloggers and the first passengers of the M/V Victory II, and the experience in the new vessel was an unforgettable one.

As part of the inaugural voyage, at each stop, we were joined by local travel agents and dignitaries to celebrate our first stop on each port. The warm hospitality from Canadians and the people of Cleveland and Detroit, our two stops in the US, was touching.

Here are some of the most memorable moments from the inaugural voyage.

#1- Montreal:

As part of the tour in Montreal, we visited the Notre-Dame Basilica. The stunning structure is the first church of the Gothic Revival style in Canada and one-stop visitors can’t miss while in Montreal. Part of the tour took us to the Montreal Botanical Garden. The 190 acre-facility is considered one of the largest botanical gardens in the world.

#2- Quebec City:

Our stop in this beautiful city was a once in a lifetime experience. With two full days at port, guests had the opportunity to step out of the Victory II and experience museums, cafes, markets and even enjoy a gelato at walking distance. One of the highlights was the visit to the Site Traditionnel Huron. There we were able to experience the culture, history and way of life of the Hurons-Wendat Nation.

#3- Kingston:

During our stop in Kingston, the Victory II stayed on the water and a small boat took us to Kingston. This interesting place is the oldest city in Ontario and has long been a strategic site for commercial and military endeavors. Kingston is home to Queen’s University, founded in 1841 and Canada’s oldest degree-granting university. The town is full of lovely houses, trees, and a great water view.

#4- Toronto:

This city was another wonderful stop during our voyage. There we welcomed local travel agents from Toronto. We were also welcomed by PortsToronto. It was an exciting day for us! We are beyond excited to play a role in contributing to Toronto’s booming tourism industry. In the afternoon we made a last minute stop for some shopping at CF Toronto Eaton Centre before heading to Ontario.

#5- Niagara Falls/Welland Canal:

We arrived at the lovely Port Colborne and after breakfast made our way to Niagara Falls. We experienced the Hornblower cruise into the mist of the falls and were amazed by mother nature—what a wonderful place! After that, we drove the scenic Niagara Parkway on our way to lunch at a local winery, where we tasted the delicious ice wine at Château des Charmes. After that, we enjoyed some retail therapy at the charming Niagara-on-the-Lake.

#6- Cleveland, Ohio:

In Cleveland, we were welcomed by a lovely chorus and some locals with signs welcoming the M/V VIctory II. All of our guests were so happy with the hospitality that the people of Cleveland extended to us. The city was a pleasant surprise. A must stop is the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, where we saw memorabilia from our favorite stars such as Michael Jackson, Nina Simone and Aretha Franklin, among others. Another delightful surprise in the city is the Cleveland Museum of Art and their amazing collection.

#7- Detroit:

We had to say goodbye to our amazing crew and fellow passengers in Detroit. It was a wonderful week full of laughs, amazing food, culture, dance, singing and great people. The truth? We didn’t want to go back to Miami. We will be back soon. Thanks to every crew member for making this inaugural voyage an unforgettable one. Join us!
